295 Days to Bucharest 2013!
News from the Relocation Industry Issue Twenty Nine - July 2012
| Bucharest 2013 - Sponsorships Available |
24th to 26th April 2013
We are really looking forward to welcoming delegates to Bucharest. The conference will take place in the impressive InterContinental Hotel, in the very centre of the city and just 2 blocks from the city's famous old town, Lipscani. This vibrant area has undergone extensive restoration and is one of the finest examples of secession architecture anywhere in Europe. Now home to numerous bars, restaurants and art galleries, this area is well worth exploring. Bucharest is a surprising city and you will be glad to hear, far enough south to have the same climate as Rome! Bookings will be online from September but full details of the remaining sponsor opportunities are available now.

A new force in global transition has been launched in the UK to provide support for globally mobile individuals and families.

Global Survey, Please Take Part
One of the challenges expatriates face is being misunderstood because of their physical
appearance (clothing, hair style, shoes, jewellery) – a “look” that conveys one message about
the kind of person you are in one culture may convey a different message in another. Anne
Copeland of The Interchange Institute (Brookline, MA, USA) has put together a research study
on this issue and is seeking more participants. The survey is open to anyone who has lived outside their
passport country for 3+ months. It takes 20-30 minutes but it’s really interesting and you’ll be
entered into a lottery to win a Kindle reader (one Kindle for every 100 completed surveys). To take part

Corporate Expansion into Europe - Lesson from WalMart
A recent global mobility survey of over 1000 companies found that 90% anticipated a growth in the number of people they would be moving around the globe in the next two years. As domestic markets in the US and Europe continue to see slow growth, so companies are seeing the need to seek new markets outside their national borders. Over the past five years previously domestically focussed U.S. companies have made serious entries into the European markets and this looks set to continue.
The U.S. is the world’s largest overseas investor. A recent study by the United Nations indicates that U.S. firms are the largest foreign direct investors in the world and own as much abroad as the British and Germans combined, the next largest foreign direct investors. Europe accounts for over half of all direct investment from the U.S. valued in 2010 at the $2 trillion mark.

Feature - The EQS Process; A Member's Experience
Undertaking the EQS certification process can seem like a daunting exercise at first, but there is plenty of support out there, from free webinars, to a LinkedIn support group to Mentors, who have guided others through the process and can help as you start to build your Quality Manual. In this article, one of our Mentors, Sue Bury outlines how she helped Relocation Scotland to successfully certify this month.

The EuRA Index: Your Association Needs You!
Please participate in answering the Index each month... By answering three short questions, we are able to use your results to look at how the industry is responding during both bad times and good. To know more about the Index,
If we would be able to predict the future we would be in a different business and would be incredibly rich. But what initially sounds so attractive, would probably be frightening and frustrating, because no one would be motivated to strive for achievements.
So we need to live with the “normal”. And that means planning ahead and then coping with the results.
All this applies to our business and our business results as well. The EuRA Index is designed to portray a real life snapshot and to highlight the expectations and hopes we have for the short and half-year future.
ACE Mobility Group
EURA Stockholm saw the launch of a Modern approach to mobility services: ACE Mobility Alliance! The six most Nordic countries in Europa have taken the initiative to establish an Alliance. This ACE alliance will make working in and across the borders of Northern Europe easier for Corporate clients and Relocation Management Companies alike! ACE stimulates international trade, business and talent exchanges. At the Eura the 600 + delegates experienced this first hand; a Danish Design dress was won by a Spanish Senorita, a Finnish First class telephone was won by some German professionals, Swedish lip-gloss sparkled on everybody's lips while Latvian chocolates melted the hearts of all of Europe! ACE was launched and landed well.
