Taxing Tax Regulations...
Helmut Berg

The increasing internationalisation of our economies mean that services are ever more frequently being supplied internationally and not only at home. If services are supplied across borders, the question always arises, as to what tax and duty legislation has to be considered. In particular, what the correct value-added tax treatment of the international service looks like, has to be clarified.  For the full article, click here

Peter Blanchett, Relocation Director

Adapt and change seem to be particularly apt bywords for the relocation industry and its practitioners right now. In my nearly twenty-two years as a relocation professional I have experienced numerous events that have challenged our industry and tested those companies that strive to succeed as providers of relocation assistance in its many forms.Recession, numerous slumps in the property market, legislation changes to the taxation of relocation, excessive currency differentials, numerous changes to the various immigration processes, acquisitions and mergers between client companies as well as service providers and a constant change in trends affecting clients requirements are just some of the many hurdles to come our way. Yet we (mostly) continue to survive and make a living! For the full article, click here.

Andrew Coombs, managing director of AXA PPP International, explains why having the right health insurance cover is a vital consideration for any business relocating premises or staff abroad.  The risks of being without private medical insurance (PMI), which enables employees to have prompt access to the best medical treatment available are serious enough for companies who confine their activities to their domestic markets. But they are magnified many times over for any firm that relocates overseas or sends staff abroad on either temporary or permanent assignments.  For the full article, click here.

EuRA Activities
Update

The start of 2010 brought with it the spectre of the new European VAT regulations and this has meant a significant change for anyone running a business. Within EuRA, as we operate across many different countries in terms of events, we need to stay compliant and this has meant changing both our invoicing processes and how we register for VAT. For example, the upcoming Palma conference means we have to be registered for VAT in Spain. But this doesn’t mean that delegates can claim back the 16% Spanish VAT on their conference, unless they are resident in Spain. However under the new rules, you do have the opportunity to claim back a portion and therefore all of our invoicing and accounting processes have been brought up to date.  For the full article, click here.
