Welcome to Palma!
Kathryn Andrews - 2010 Conference Committee Chair
Despite the difficult economic conditions in which we are all operating currently, I am sure that, like me, you are amazed at where 2009 has gone – we are already into August and next year’s Conference will soon be upon us.  Traditionally, we have held the Conference in some of the main business centers of Europe but this year, without detracting from the serious business issues scheduled for discussion, we have acknowledged the fact that a little sunshine and warmth is something for everyone to look forward to.  We are putting together an exciting agenda and do please, not only put the dates in your diary but make some firm plans to make 2010 a great year for your and your Company. We look forward to seeing you in the Mediterranean Sunshine!

EuRA/Oxford Brookes Coaching Programme:
Launches November
One of the most exciting new projects that we will be launching this year, is our joint coaching training initiative with Oxford Brookes University.
In November we will launch the first module in our four year, online Coaching Certificate for Relocation Professionals. This is a revolutionary approach to training, focussing on the impact of using coaching skills when working with expats and transferees. Combining core coaching and psychological competences with cultural understanding, we are able to deliver a programme that will be relevant for professionals operating in all areas of relocation.

Berlitz / EuRA Research:
Expat Expectations
We are thrilled to announce the launch of a new expatriate research project in collaboration with Berlitz Consulting.  Over the past three years we have been working to collate information on our industry and our members in order to build a reliable set of comparative data, but also to be used as an effective PR and Marketing tool for our wider industry.
The next stage in this project is working with Berlitz to collate accurate expatriate data. We need to know who is moving where, what their greatest challenges and successes have been and how they have adapted both as transferees and as families. The questionnaire is now live.

"Cost Cutting?  Yes we (already) do..."
Helmut Berg - EuRA President

At the last EuRA council meeting in Lisbon we started to discuss the “real estate” topic. It was not the intention to have a solution by the end of this meeting but as a start we had a good round of fact finding. It was very obvious that this topic (which has been on the radar for a while already) had become so hot because of the price pressures we all face. The result of our research EuRA InGA Nr.1 was very clear: 77.3% of the participants suffered price pressure and 61.4% felt it takes too long until they get paid.
“We need to cut costs and we count on you to help us with that”.
Does this refrain sound familiar to you?
