For the first time EuRA was present with our own booth at the conference of Worldwide ERC which took place in Washington, DC, USA from 29 – 31 October. Our attendance was a tremendous success! There was almost no minute during the exhibition times that we did not have at least one visitor at our booth. Visitors wanted to learn more about EuRA and especially about the EuRA Quality Seal. Just a couple of days before this conference it was made publicly known that FIDI seized their DSP program. So even more people had been interested in EQS. I am very positive that our presence in Washington, DC will cause more registrations for the EuRA Quality Seal.

The most famous son of Vienna, Johann Strauss was a prodigious composer of over 500 works. Unlike his German, Italian and French contemporaries, Strauss was a hugely populist composer, with his work loved by his native Viennese. Strauss was a dance composer, specialising in waltzes, polkas, marches and gallops. Known during his life as “The Waltz King” he is of course best known for the sublime waltz, The Blue Danube, one of the most instantly recognisable pieces in music.

Over the past years, we have been working on a series of research topics that will provide EuRA members with relevant and useful information about our industry. Over the coming months we will be publishing the results of these surveys and starting the process of comparative analysis. The second to be published is the EuRA Cost of Living Basket, or Coliba. This large scale piece of comparative research covers 26 cities.
Thanks are owed to all of the members who took part in he last two years of research and to Marketing Liaison Nathalie Gazal, and Marketing Executive Maria Manley who have made sense of the results.

During October we held our now annual USA reception, coinciding with the Worldwide ERC Global Workforce Symposium. We were delighted to welcome as guest of honour, Chris Collie, retiring CEO of the Worldwide ERC. Thanks to him and to all the EuRA Members' who joined us for a memorable evening.

FSE is a UK government supported venture capital body, who specialise in the supporting small and medium enterprises (SME's) . Sally spoke at our Members' Day in Lille and led a fascinating discussion on the impact of the global downturn on our industry.
