What is the Peer 2 Peer Programme?
A professionally facilitated group of peers who work together to solve their individual challenges. It provides aspiring and senior leaders with a safe and trusted environment in which to share their ‘difficult and wicked’ issues.
How does it work?
P2P participants are grouped into cohorts of 6 peers (potentially assigned by location, job role etc according to preference) who meet together (generally online) 8 times for around 90 minutes every 6 weeks or so (depending on calendar preferences).
At each session, a member will present their specific challenge to their group. This is supported by a challenge briefing note that they have prepared and has been circulated a week before the session. The group will attempt to provide potential solutions and actions to help solve the issue.
By the end of the 8-session programme, each member will have had the opportunity to have their challenge addressed, provide advice to their peers and have developed new relationships with industry peers. There is an introduction session and concluding session to make up 8 in total.
Why does it work?
The programme is based on Action Learning Principles but designed to help Members find solutions to wicked problems and/or gain confirmation over their own thinking from a group of trusted peers.
Group learning with active and real examples is a highly effective way to learn from the experiences of others. Whilst a core benefit is to have an issue examined in confidence by others, the experience of working with peers helps to develop a wide range of complex thinking, listening and assessment skills.
What would my commitment be?
First and foremost an absolute commitment to your group members. You will:
- Ensure that all discussions are confidential and retained within the group
- Attend every session to support your peers
- Make a positive contribution to each session
- Present a challenge you need help with (including a pre-session challenge briefing paper for circulation)
FAQs
Q. How much does the programme cost?
€900 for up to 8 sessions
For Premium Members the price is reduced to €750
Q. I already have 6 people who want to form a group - is this allowed?
Of course, but we do reserve the right to modify group membership at any point before and during the programme if necessary
Q. I’m already in a support group with industry colleagues - is this any different to that?
Very much so. It is structured and facilitated to ensure that the process of learning within the group is balanced and appropriate
Q. It sounds very formal - is it for me?
There are a few set processes and milestones that have to be completed, but once the group establishes itself properly (usually by sessions 2 or 3) it becomes a relaxed and informal environment.
Q. Can I take part with a colleague?
You are welcome to join different P2P groups but we do not recommend two members of the same organisation joining the same group. We also do not permit substitutions, so you could not take turns in attending. Groups build up a high level of trust between members so it is important that membership remains the same throughout the programme.
The cost of the programme is €900 for all six sessions across the year.
