Tad, Briony, myself and our Production Designer, Michael Vermaak, met with our brilliant event teams in Malta, and it's all coming together!
Our primary venue, the Hilton Malta, is really looking forward to welcoming us back. For those of you who don't know, this is the first time ever that we are being hosted by a venue we have used before. Back in 2016, we held the conference at the Hilton Malta, and they are excited to host us again ten years on.
The event is sold out, and all delegates should have received the login details for the Conference App. We ask that you check the App when being asked for a meeting. We have a zero-tolerance policy for unregistered people being in any conference areas. It's not fair on the 800 delegates who have paid—not just in money, but in time and effort—to attend, only to have people making meetings for free.
We have also been working with our partners in the Coalition for Associations in Global Mobility (CAGM) on developing codes of conduct for all of our events. These are designed to ensure that everyone has a great time in a safe and inclusive environment.
If something happens during the event that makes you feel uncomfortable in any way, please come and tell us. Find myself, Tad, Briony, Kirsty, or any of our board members or volunteers. We all want to ensure that any behaviour or circumstances that make you feel uncomfortable are dealt with promptly. It could even be something as simple as wanting to get home from the gala dinner early and needing help finding a taxi.
For our newcomers, the event can be both exciting and intimidating—after all, there are 800 people attending. We have run an online briefing to go over the whys and wherefores of the event, but once you're in Malta, please come and find any of us on the team if you need advice or support.
The App contains loads of useful information, including maps of the venue, which is large. There are plenty of spaces to network, as well as many bars and restaurants within a five-minute walk. So get out, get some air, stretch your legs, and make time for yourself. Constant networking can be exhausting, so please remember to look after your wellbeing and take time to explore some of the island.
