It is with the deepest sense of sorrow that on behalf of the EuRA Board I have to announce that the EuRA Conference in Seville 2020 is being postponed until 2021 due the coronavirus crisis. The dates will be March 23rd to 26th 2021.
Over the past few weeks we have looked at every possible contingency to keep the event on track, but every risk assessment we have carried out continues to show that the risks of continuing outweigh the benefits. We looked at all scenarios but postponement until 2021 was our best option.
We know that you are as disappointed as we are.
For those of us who remember the 2010 conference, there is a deep sense of deja vu about where we find ourselves today. Following the eruption of the Eyjafjallajökull volcano in Iceland we had to delay the conference in Palma de Mallorca for a year. It was only thanks to the understanding and kindness of our members and delegates and our venues (coincidentally also a Melia property) that EuRA survived that financial shock and we are asking for your understanding and kindness once again.
EuRA is and always has been not-for-profit. The annual conference pays for all of the projects EuRA offers from free access to training, to the Global events, to the Quality Seal. As we are contractually bound to our venues in Spain to pay in full in advance, we have negotiated with them and they will hold all the money in good faith so we can run the event in 2021. They have agreed and now we need to ask the same of you.
Over the coming weeks we will be issuing a 100% credit note for the 2021 Seville conference to all delegates. If you are not sure you will be able to attend in 2021, we will hold the credits open for three years as we did in 2010. The alternative is the likely end of EuRA. EuRA is absorbing the cost of the contract with the Melia hotels which states that they will charge you one night in case of cancellation. We have paid that on your behalf. You will be able to rebook for March 2021 on a new code shortly.
To quote Tedros Adhanom, DG of the World Health Organisation;
“Let hope be the antidote to fear; let solidarity be the antidote to blame; let our shared humanity be the antidote to our shared threat,”
Please don’t hesitate to contact myself or your amazing EuRA team if you need any further information at this time. We will be keeping you updated with all further information via bulletins, the website and the App.

Our primary venue is the Melia Seville, a great property just a short walk from the historic centre and directly opposite the amazing Plaza d'Espana.
We are particularly excited about our Gala Dinner venue the Hacienda San Miguel de Montelirio, and our party night "Fenomenal Friday Fiesta" dinner and disco, being held in the centre of the city in the stunning Mercado Lonja del Barranco. You don't want to miss this one!
Please note that the Immigration and Corporate Housing Symposia take place at the same time so cannot both be attended by the same delegate.
